Assemble Fellowship
D6EU
ASSEMBLE is a new international arts programme exploring the climate emergency at the intersection of involuntary migration, displacement, conflict and ecological decline.
We are looking to host three Fellowships open to Artists, Curators and cultural practitioners with lived experience of involuntary migration or displacement.
These are open to practitioners based in Cyprus, Spain (within the Basque Country) and Ukraine, seeking to (re)build their curatorial practice and networks across borders.
Over 12-months, each Fellow will produce a new curatorial project responding to the climate emergency with the option to consider how it intersects with conflict, displacement and ecological decline.
The Fellows will also engage in an international programme of activities offering immersive experiences for new knowledge and best practice to be shared, including:
- Three curatorial labs taking place in Cyprus, Spain and a hybrid lab from Ukraine;
- One group residency in the UK;
- An international conference in Morocco;
- A digital exhibition promoting the three curatorial projects.
Applicants must be able to travel internationally to Cyprus, Morocco, Spain, United Kingdom and Ukraine (the latter will be hybrid and travel will only be considered if government travel advice and the safety situation allows for this, and we will respect each person’s preference). If you are not able to travel to any of these destinations, please let us know in your application.
FELLOWSHIP IN CYPRUS - LOCAL INFORMATION
We welcome applications from artists, curators and cultural practitioners currently based in Cyprus who have undergone a process of displacement from their home countries. Please note: Cyprus does not belong to the Schengen Area. Applicants must hold a recognised legal status (e.g. recognised refugee status, working visa) to be able to travel within and outside of Europe as part of the programme.
- The Fellowship is based in Larnaca and co-supported by D6:EU and Larnaka2030 Capital of Culture.
- The Fellow will have access to workspace, resources and regular in-person meetings with both teams in Larnaca throughout the 12 months.
- The Fellowship focuses on Larnaca - a city home to diaspora communities including people with refugee status and people seeking asylum or who are displaced.
- Valuable networking opportunities will connect the Fellow with professionals in the artistic community and local communities in Larnaca.
Fees and Additional Support
Each Fellow receives a fee of 9,000 Euros (gross, paid in local currency including taxes) and a production budget of 6,000 Euros for local travel and project costs. Support varies by country: e.g., access to workspaces, networks, and technical facilities.
Deadline: 26 March 2026.

Additional Info
The programme addresses long-term needs beyond emergency responses, focusing on professional development, capacity building, and networking for displaced practitioners.
Together, we will create vibrant spaces for curiosity, collaboration and critical thought. While short-term initiatives and emergency responses are important, ASSEMBLE asks what is required long-term for Artists, Curators and cultural practitioners with lived experience of involuntary migration or displacement. The programme embeds a shared vision around cultural rights, mobility-justice and freedom of expression.
Funded by the European Union, ASSEMBLE brings together a dynamic partnership committed to fair and equitable rights for artists impacted by displacement. Led by D6:EU (Cyprus) partners include Congress of Cultural Activists (Ukraine), Moving Artists (Spain) and the international mobility network, On the Move, D6: Culture in Transit (UK), ARC – Artist at Risk Connection (France) and Larnaka2030 (Cyprus).
The three Curatorial Fellowships will run in parallel in Cyprus, Spain and Ukraine from June 2026 until June 2027. We welcome applications from Artists, Curators and cultural practitioners who are based in Cyprus, Spain (Basque Country) and Ukraine. The ASSEMBLE programme will be
conducted in English across international activities.
To be eligible to apply, you must be:
● Be a professional who has lived experience of forced migration and/or displacement and have resettled in Cyprus, within the Basque Country in Spain, or have been internally displaced in Ukraine;
● Residing and legally registered in the country you are applying to;
● Aged 18 years old or above;
● Be able to evidence professional practice as an Artist, Curator or cultural practitioner;

They will have access to a production budget of 6,000 Euros (which includes in-country travel and participation or service fees for contributors). This will be managed by the arts organisation responsible for the Fellow.
